PRIVATE DINNING &
EVENTS AT PLATEAU

Thank you for considering Plateau for your event.  
Our light and airy upstairs space can seat up to 36 guests over four long tables. 

We offer a private dining experience based around sharing plates. Dishes are always served to the centre of the table for guests to share and is the only style of service that we offer. We believe such a menu offers the best of Plateau and local seasonality in a friendly and casual setting, whilst making the organising of your event as simple as possible. We can also curate a drinks offering if you wish to keep costs set. Details and prices will be available on application. 

A FEW WORDS ABOUT OUR FOOD & WINE

The emphasis is on raw product, quality, provenance and taste. We use local growers, farmers and artisans, who work sustainably under organic or biodynamic agricultural practices.   This theme is consistent through our wine list, made up entirely of Natural Wines. These wines are made simply from the pressing and fermentation of organic or biodynamic grapes with nothing added or taken away in the vineyard or winery. If this is a whole new world of wine for you, we would love the opportunity to elaborate further for you, or curate a selection of wines especially suited to your guests and event.

All you need to do is determine your preferred date and provide us with details as to how many guests you are expecting and time of day, and we will sort the rest.

Below you will find an example of a seasonal menu. In our pre-event meeting, we will pick 6 to 8 dishes (from the current a la carte menu).  

THE BIG PRINT: Things you should know.

 

Availability We offer a first come first served system on our bookings. If you wish to proceed we will need to finish the booking through our website with credit card details before the reservation can be confirmed.

We consider 8 people and over a large party. If you were to book for a party of 8 up to 19 people, there would be other people dining with you. At 20 people it becomes a private hire and we will no longer seat other people in the upstairs space with your party and require a minimum spend for exclusive use of the space.  

Food & Drinks: All our events require a set sharing menu which is drafted 
from our a la carte menu. Because we run a constantly 
changing menu according to the delights of seasonal Sussex fare,

a draft will be sent to you a week in advance of your party taking into consideration allergies and dietary restrictions. If you wish to pre-order wine in advance of your party, this will need to be done at least two weeks prior. All other drinks can be ordered a la carte on the day.

Dessert: For bookings over 12, we require you to preorder your desserts from our current menu. We also offer an off menu option of Basque cheesecake or vegan chocolate mousse for the vegan guests.

BYO cake: You are welcome to BYO cake for special events. However if you wish to substitute your dessert course with your cake we will charge you £2.5 per head.

This is capped at £50. 

Pricing: Over 8 people, £45 per person up to 19 people.

The £45 per person does not include dessert or drinks.

We charge £5 for the addition of dessert to your set sharing menu. We require a minimum spend for any parties of 20 people or over as it becomes impossible for us to seat other people with you and therefore a private hire.

£1000 for weekday lunch and £1500 for weekday dinner.

Weekend lunch is £1500 and dinner is £2500 (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Please note that our private hire minimum spend will be increasing

from the end of March.

Deposit: We do not take a deposit from your card when booking but we do require you to enter your card details when booking. If you were to cancel your large booking less than seven days before the day we will charge your card £10 per head. If guest numbers decrease from the original booking then we will also apply this charge for missing customers.

Service charge: A 12.5% service charge is added to all large groups. It goes directly to the staff and chefs serving you on the day. 

Splitting the bill: We offer split bills to all parties but will need to be made aware of this prior to your party. If individuals are paying for their own portion, names will be taken for tabs and maintained throughout the evening with the support of you and your guests.

Decorations: We believe we have created a wonderful space for you and your guests to dine. We require that decorations be restricted to table level only. i.e. no balloons, banners, poppers or confetti. No fancy dress is allowed and noise levels must be kept to an appropriate level.

 

Dietary requirements: Please inform us of all your dietary requirements in advance. Because we have a very small kitchen, any life threatening allergies cannot be accommodated due to possible cross-contamination. We are unable to accommodate menu changes on the day of the event and will therefore create the menu in advance based on these needs.

Arrival and leave times: For larger tables (up to 8 covers) we offer a 2.5 hour sitting unless you have booked for private hire. You will need to arrive promptly and notify all of your guests of the arrival and leave time required, as (unless you have exclusive use of our upstairs dining area) there will be a booking before or after you.

 

When dining at Plateau: Plateau is a lively, welcoming venue where we run a relaxed and friendly service style. We take great care to make sure all our customers have a positive and safe experience.
